Activities

In addition to my research work, I am an active member of the University's musical theatre society, The Cecilian Society. During my time in the Society I have worn the following hats:

  • I sat on the Committee from 2007 to 2012, including two terms as Secretary (in 2008-2010) and one as President (in 2010-2011).
  • I was the Ticket Manager for 2012's production of Oklahoma!, in which I also played the role of Old Man Carnes. The show ran from Wednesday 22nd - Saturday 25th February 2012 in the Mitchell Theatre, Glasgow.
  • Throughout 2012 I sat on the 60th Anniversary Sub-Committee which had responsibility for planning a celebration of the Society's formation in October 1952. As part of our remit I designed and implemented the anniversary website including a registration and database system, which is still alive in internet terms.

I am currently a member of the Archive Sub-Committee, which was established following the success of the 60th anniversary celebrations to create a more comprehensive record of the Society's history.

On Sunday 29th September 2013 I will make my first foray into the backstage world when I act as Technical Director for the Society's weekend production of Annie. Tickets are £5 and available on the door in Qudos, QMU, on the night.
