JIF Short Arm Cavity
THERMAL NOISE EXPERIMENT
The JIF Interferometer Laboratory is currently undergoing the fine tuning of its double and triple suspensions installed into the main tanks of the detector assembly. In the one remaining tank, at the end of the so called Short Arm Cavity, there is to be a Thermal Noise Experiment run.

The Thermal Noise Experiment will contain seven light weight double pendulum suspensions including two silica suspensions from Cantilever blades, an aluminium reaction chain suspension (for the end suspension) again suspended from cantilever blades. The remaining four suspensions: Beam Splitter; Mode Matching Optic; Beam Stearer; and Mounting Unit, are all aluminium double pendulums suspended from fixed mounting points. 

I have been involved in designing the majority of the mechanical parts for both the suspensions and accesories, such as the Eddy Current Coil/Damper Asssemblies, Fibre Clamping Jig, Silica Suspension Welding Rig/Installation Jig, etc. And the coordination and management of the manufacture of all parts.
