Lise Meitner Prize for Nuclear Science of EPS

 

 

We announce the first call for the Lise Meitner Prize for Nuclear Science of the European Physical Society (EPS) sponsored by EURYSIS MESURES.

 

This new Prize of the EPS has been created in the memory of Lise Meitner who was born in 1878 in Vienna and died in 1968 in Göttingen, and will honour work in the large field of nuclear science (experimental and theoretical nuclear physics, and all areas of applications of nuclear science representing the breadth and strength of European Nuclear Physics).

 

Regulations:

 

The Prize shall be awarded to one or more researchers every two years.

The Prize shall be awarded without restrictions on nationality, sex, race or religion.

The Prize shall consist of a medal, a diploma and a money amount of 5.000 Euro.

The money for the Prize will be provided by    EURISYS  MESURES.

Only work that has been published in international journals can be considered in the pro­posals for candidates to the Prize.

The NPB shall request nominations for the Prize from experts in Nuclear Science and related technologies.

Personal applications for the award shall not be accepted.

Nominations shall be reviewed by a Prize Committee appointed by the NPB. The Com­mittee shall consider each of the eligible nominations and shall make recommendations to NPB on the basis of  referee reports of external experts.

The final recommendation of the NPB and a referee report shall be submitted for ratifica­tion to the Executive Committee of the EPS.

 

 

Nomination must include the motivation for the award, a brief cur­riculum vitae of the nominee(s) and a short list of major publications. Letters of support from authorities in the field which outline the im­portance of the work would also be helpful.

Nominations will be treated in confidence and although they will be acknowledged there will be no further communication. Nominations should be sent before
