What could you do if you had a camera so fast that is can freeze light in motion? Or a quatum sensing device that can measure the path taken by a single photon with a precision of a single atom? We are developing the techonlogies that will enable new forms of imaging with applications ranging from seeing behind and through walls to quantum microscopy. See our TEDx video and also our video explaining how we can see behind walls.
We are also applying these and other techniques to the study of new materials for controlling light with fundamental applications such as the study of artificial spacetimes. See our video on artificial black holes.

The extreme light group is part of the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Glasgow, Scotland. Our research is funded by the European Research Council (ERC), the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), The Leverhulme Trust, The Centre for Defence Enterprise (CDE), DSTL, and is part of the UK Quantum Imaging Hub, QuantIC.
