Research Area: I am a Research Fellow in the Institute for Gravitational Research.

I am currently involved in investigating the properties of test subtrates which will/may be used in future Gravitational Wave Detectors. The main focus of my research is the effect of mirror coatings on the losses of silica and sapphire substrates.

I am also involved in the construction of a large cryostat to research the mechanical properties of bulk silicon at low temperature for possible use in advanced Gravitational Wave Detectors.
