Welcome
I am an honorary research fellow affiliated with the Particle Physics Theory group in the School of Physics and Astronomy, continuing a relatively long association with the University of Glasgow. I was a postdoctoral research assistant following completion of my PhD, both also in the PPT group. My doctoral thesis is here: Bottomonium and B Physics with Lattice NRQCD b Quarks. Going further back still, I attained my undergraduate degree (MSci, Physics) from the university in 2010.
My research is in Lattice Gauge Theory where I study the properties of hadrons, which are particles made up of quarks that are (very!) strongly bound together. By carrying out numerical simulations of the behaviour of the constituents, after placing them on a space-time lattice, we can increase our understanding of the strong force. My main interest in this area is in the simulation of bottom quarks, which -- because they are considered to be heavy quarks -- require special consideration. All manner of physics can be studied by combining bottom quarks with each other or with light quarks.
