Final-year student in Physics and Astronomy 2002/03
I went to St Aloysius School here in Glasgow where I took highers in Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Computing Studies and English. Having enjoyed Physics at school I wanted to take it further and understand the nature of fields and waves. Following in my sister's footsteps I knew Glasgow University was a great place to study, so had no hesitation in applying for a joint degree in Physics and Astronomy.
In addition to being an excellent place to study, the large size of the University means that it boasts a huge number of clubs and societies from which something seems right for everyone - I chose Shoringi Kempo (a Japanese martial art). Having graduated this year, I am planning to take a year off and travel the world before returning to pursue a career in research either in Scotland or further afield. Each summer I have spent time working in one of the Department's research groups - adding both to my CV and experience beyond a basic degree. My parting gift to the department is having made a new exhibit for the entrance lobby!
